VARANASI, Oct. 4 -- BJP national secretary and state co-incharge Jagdish Patel on Saturday urged party workers to make the public meeting to be addressed by national president Nitin Nabin in Varanasi on October 7 a success and accord a grand welcome to the bike rally arriving from Vadnagar. The rally, organised as part of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, will reach Kashi on October 6. As part of the campaign, 51 women carrying kalash (urns) filled with water from rivers in Gujarat, including Vadnagar, will accompany the riders and perform 'Jalabhishek' at Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The rally will conclude with a public meeting at Jagatpur Inter College in Rohaniya, which will be addressed by Nitin Nabin. Speaking at a meeting of the organising committee at Gulab Bagh here, Patel said the Vadnagar-Kashi rally symbolised the confluence of two ancient and historic cultures. He said the bike riders were expected to start arriving in Kashi on the afternoon of October 6. Kashi regional president Ashok Chaurasia said reception points were being set up in all assembly constituencies to welcome the riders, with public representatives and party workers expected to greet them with drumbeats and flower petals. On October 7, the riders will gather at Sampurnanand University, where BJP Mahila Morcha members will welcome them. They will then travel by bus to Maidagin and proceed on foot to Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The 51 women carrying urns will lead the procession, with the water to be used for Jalabhishek. After the ritual, the riders will travel to Gokuldham in Rohaniya and attend the public meeting at Jagatpur Inter College. Chaurasia said senior party office-bearers had been assigned responsibilities for various arrangements.
