Over 18,000 challans settled in a day through HC's Payment Setu
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 17 -- The Allahabad high court has operationalised its in-house 'Payment Setu Portal' across 74 district courts in Uttar Pradesh, allowing traffic challans to be paid digitally through a QR code or payment link, Viveka Nand Sharma, joint registrar, media cell, said in an official release on Wednesday.
During the recent National Lok Adalat, 18,661 traffic challans were settled in a single day, with Rs.83,38,525 collected through digital payments, he said. The portal generates a dynamic QR code and payment link, which are sent to the litigant's registered mobile phone when a court imposes a fine. The fine can then be paid through UPI, following which a digital receipt is issued. According to the release, Gautam Buddha Nagar recorded the highest utilisation, with 2,980 challans settled and Rs.10,42,973 collected. Lucknow settled 1,198 challans, while Ballia cleared 848 through digital payments. The portal was developed in coordination with Union Bank of India and state police authorities....
