LUCKNOW, Aug. 28 -- The Samajwadi Party on Thursday alleged that more than 15,000 fake voters have been fraudulently enrolled in the electoral roll for the Agra teachers' constituency for the UP Legislative Council elections scheduled for 2026. In a memorandum submitted to the chief electoral officer of UP, the party claimed that the alleged irregularities were carried out under pressure from ministers and office-bearers of the ruling BJP. The complaint covers Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hathras, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Auraiya and Kannauj. According to the memorandum, approximately 125 schools listed on voter rolls do not exist. Names of fake teachers associated with these non-existent institutions were allegedly used to create bogus entries, the party claimed. Specific instances were cited from Agra. An RTI response from the DIoS reportedly revealed that more than 26 schools under which voters had been enrolled were non-existent. The principal of Shri Gopal Singh Inter College on Jalesar Road, Mudhi Chauraha, Agra, stated in writing that 22 of the teachers listed as voters from his institution were not employed there.
