Oppn, wb minister seek hakim's arrest in collapse case
Kolkata, June 27 -- Political slugfest on the Kolkata warehouse collapse, which has claimed 15 lives so far, intensified on Friday with, with leaders from the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC faction and BJP demanding action against former Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim.
Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari has alleged that the warehouse plan received final approval during Hakim's tenure as mayor. On Friday, Hakim's former OSD Kalicharan Banerjee was arrested in the case. Hakim has rejected allegations of wrongdoing.
TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh demanded custodial interrogation of Hakim, while party MP Mahua Moitra asked why Hakim remained free. BJP minister Agnimitra Paul, too, said: "If he has been arrested, the former minister should be arrested too." htc...
