PRAYAGRAJ, July 17 -- The agriculture department has urged eligible farmers in Prayagraj to complete their Farmer Registry at the earliest, as nearly one lakh farmers are yet to obtain their unique Farmer ID despite it being made mandatory for availing benefits under several key government schemes. According to department officials, Farmer IDs have so far been generated for 5.69 lakh farmers in the district, while around one lakh eligible farmers are yet to complete the registration process. The department has intensified its outreach campaign to bring all eligible farmers under the digital registry. Deputy director of agriculture Pawan Kumar Vishwakarma said the Farmer ID would serve as the digital identity of farmers and is now essential for accessing benefits under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, agricultural subsidy programmes, seed and fertiliser distribution, farm machinery assistance, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, crop insurance and other government initiatives. He advised farmers whose records do not include all their land parcels (gata numbers) to update the details through the UP Farmer Registry portal (upfr.agristack.gov.in) or at their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC). Registration facilities have also been set up at CSCs, gram panchayat-level special camps and agriculture department camps to facilitate enrolment and resolve documentation-related issues. Officials said the UP Farmer Registry aims to create a comprehensive digital database by assigning every eligible farmer a unique identification number. The initiative is expected to streamline verification, eliminate duplication of records and ensure faster, more transparent delivery of government benefits. It will also help departments accurately identify beneficiaries, improve planning for agricultural development programmes and enable targeted implementation of welfare schemes.
