OHE wire snaps near Manauri, Vande Bharat among eight trains hit
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 1 -- Train services on the Prayagraj-Kanpur route were disrupted for around 90 minutes on Monday afternoon after an overhead equipment (OHE) wire snapped near Manauri, affecting eight trains, including the Vande Bharat Express and Jammu Tawi Express.
The incident occurred around 12.10pm, bringing train movement to a halt on both the up and down lines. Several trains were stranded at stations and other points between Prayagraj and Fatehpur.
Soon after railway authorities were alerted, a tower wagon and a team of technical experts were sent from Subedarganj to the site.
Repair work began on arrival, and the OHE supply was restored after more than an hour, allowing train operations to resume gradually.
Passengers on trains travelling from Kanpur to Prayagraj faced considerable inconvenience. The Vande Bharat Express, scheduled to reach Prayagraj Junction at 12.10pm, was stopped repeatedly after crossing Fatehpur and finally arrived around 1.41pm, nearly 1.5 hours late.
The Kalindi Express left Fatehpur at 11.16am but was held at several points en route and reached Prayagraj Junction at 1.49pm. The Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Jammu Tawi Express, which departed Fatehpur at 11.28am, was also halted en route and reached Subedarganj at 2.07pm. The 22432 Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur Express, which left Fatehpur at 11.53am, reached Subedarganj at 2.24pm after being held on the route.
Trains travelling from Prayagraj towards Kanpur were also affected. The Sealdah-Ajmer Express, Howrah-Jodhpur Express and North East Express were among the trains that had to be delayed for more than an hour. They were allowed to proceed gradually after the OHE repair was completed.
North Central Railway chief public relations officer Dr Shivam Sharma said a wagon was immediately sent from Subedarganj along with a technical team after information about the fault was received.
"The OHE wire was repaired and train operations were restored at the earliest. Four up and four down trains were affected for a short duration during the disruption," he said....
