LUCKNOW, Sept. 4 -- Uttar Pradesh assembly speaker Satish Mahana on Thursday said legislative assemblies are not merely platforms for enacting laws but also serve as crucial mediums for serious deliberation on issues of public interest and for reviewing the government's functioning. Mahana said this while discussing the vital role legislative committees play in strengthening the democratic system during his meeting with the Odisha legislative assembly standing committee and its chairperson Babu Singh.
