NPCL installs 1,781 rooftop solar units under PM Surya Ghar scheme
Lucknow, April 23 -- Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has claimed to have installed around 1,781 rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of nearly 55 MW under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, marking a significant push to household-level clean energy adoption in Greater Noida.
The discom said it had received 1,868 applications so far, with about 1,120 consumers already availing subsidies worth nearly Rs 9 crore. The company reported over 30% growth in solar capacity addition and a 135% rise in consumer adoption compared to last year, indicating increasing consumer confidence.
"The rooftop solar uptake is no longer limited to urban households, with rural areas also witnessing growing adoption due to affordability and awareness efforts," a NPCL spokesman claimed.
The NPCL has also introduced a peer-to-peer energy trading platform, allowing non-solar consumers to purchase green power directly from rooftop solar users, aimed at improving accessibility and creating a collaborative clean energy ecosystem.
The utility said it had been working closely with stakeholders to streamline procedures and boost awareness since the scheme's launch, helping accelerate installations.
