PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 7 -- The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has extended the application deadline for the recruitment of 11,508 assistant teachers in urban primary schools run by the basic education department and 897 assistant teachers in the primary sections of government-aided secondary schools, allowing in-service teachers holding an 18-month DElEd qualification from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to apply. Following an Allahabad high court order, eligible NIOS DElEd candidates can now submit their online applications along with the fee by November 11. The deadline for making corrections in submitted applications is November 13, said officials. Commission chairman Prashant Kumar said the commission had granted an interim opportunity to in-service NIOS DElEd teachers to apply in compliance with the high court's November 5 order in a petition filed by Abhishek Pathak and 44 others. The candidature of these applicants will remain subject to the final orders of HC, he said. Commission deputy secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh said teachers who were in service on August 10, 2017, and had completed 18-month DElEd (ODL) course through NIOS before April 1, 2019, would be eligible to apply....
