Night shift worker beaten, robbed of bike on deserted road in Lucknow
LUCKNOW, May 18 -- A night shift worker was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his motorcycle, mobile phone and cash by three unidentified men on a deserted stretch in Lucknow's Nigohan area in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
Ajit Singh, a resident of Sehgon Paschim village in Rae Bareli district, was returning home after finishing his night shift duty around 3.20am when he was intercepted near Lalpur Dakhina Tower under Nigohan police station limits, according to police.
Police said the three accused riding a motorcycle forced Ajit to stop on the deserted road before attacking him. The assailants allegedly beat him up and snatched his motorcycle, mobile phone and Rs.500 cash before fleeing.
"The victim later approached Nigohan police station and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections and an investigation has been launched," police said in a statement. Assistant commissioner of police (Mohanlalganj) Gyanendra Singh visited the spot and directed officers to expedite the investigation.
"Police teams have been formed to track down the accused. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned and technical surveillance along with local intelligence inputs are being used to identify the robbers," the ACP said....
