VARANASI, Aug. 23 -- Prof Bihari Lal Sharma assumed charge as the vice-chancellor of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (SSU) for a second term on Saturday, pledging to elevate the institution's legacy and secure global recognition by aligning Indian knowledge traditions with modern academic requirements. Prof Sharma expressed gratitude to chancellor and governor Anandiben Patel for renewing her trust in him, calling it a collective call to development. He affirmed that the university will function with strict discipline, transparency, and dedication to honor this responsibility. Highlighting SSU's 235-year legacy in preserving Sanskrit and Oriental learning in Kashi, Prof Sharma stated that bridging tradition with technology and modern academics will be a primary focus. Unfinished projects from his previous tenure will be prioritised alongside new developmental schemes. To enhance student-centric learning, the VC pledged to establish direct lines of communication with students to resolve academic issues and improve essential campus amenities, including clean drinking water.
