Lucknow, Sept. 3 -- Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has received approval to purchase 750 square metres of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) land in Dubagga for a new mini bus terminal, as part of a plan to shift intercity bus operations towards the city's outskirts and ease traffic congestion. The proposed terminal will cater to buses heading towards Hardoi, Sitapur, Bareilly and Shahjahanpur, providing passengers in western Lucknow access to intercity services without having to travel to terminals in central parts of the city. "Land is being identified for developing bus terminals outside the city. A committee has been constituted under the leadership of the district magistrate, and preparations are underway to purchase 750 square metres of LDA land in Dubagga. Once buses start operating from the new terminal, traffic congestion caused by buses within the city is expected to reduce considerably," said Vimal Rajan, regional manager, UPSRTC, Lucknow region. The Dubagga terminal is part of a wider plan to distribute bus operations across the city based on routes. A terminal at Jankipuram is proposed for Sitapur-bound buses, while the Naderganj UPSRTC workshop in Amausi is proposed to be converted into a terminal for Kanpur services. A new terminal at Kamta will cater to eastern UP, while the Vibhuti Khand terminal in Gomti Nagar will handle Delhi-bound buses.
