Neurosurgeon booked on molestation charge; police collect CCTV footage
PRAYAGRAJ, April 5 -- The police investigation into molestation allegations against a city neurosurgeon has intensified, with key procedural steps now underway. Acting on a complaint filed by a female student, the Civil Lines police recorded her statement and conducted her medical examination. Her statement is expected to be recorded before a magistrate soon as part of the legal process.
Police teams also visited the clinic of the accused neurosurgeon, Dr Kartikeya Sharma, to collect CCTV footage and other relevant evidence. Medical staff present at the clinic at the time of the alleged incident, have also been questioned.
According to the complaint, a BA student from Sulemsarai visited Dr Sharma's clinic in the Civil Lines area around 10 pm on Wednesday, accompanied by her brother, for treatment of a headache. The student has alleged that once inside the doctor's cabin, she was asked to remove her upper garments and was then molested.
Following the incident, the student and her family members created a commotion at the clinic.
Based on the student's written complaint, Civil Lines police registered a named FIR against Dr Kartikeya Sharma. Meanwhile, a video of the doctor has gone viral on social media in which he rejects the allegations as false and claims that the student is mentally unwell....
