negligence in cattle care won't be tolerated: DM
VARANASI, June 9 -- District magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Monday directed officials to ensure proper management of all gaushalas in the district and warned that negligence in cattle conservation would not be tolerated.
During a review meeting, the DM assessed arrangements for green fodder, straw, tin sheds, drinking water, CCTV cameras, treatment of sick animals and disposal of dead animals.
He said cattle conservation was a top government priority and ordered that all gaushalas maintain adequate stocks of straw and provide animals with a balanced diet of straw, green fodder, wheat bran and oil cake. He warned of strict action if complaints were received about animals being fed only dry straw.
Keeping the summer season in mind, Kumar directed officials to improve shade arrangements, sprinkle water on tin sheds and ensure an adequate supply of drinking water. He also ordered timely treatment of sick animals, proper disposal of carcasses, repair of damaged boundary walls, functioning CCTV cameras and large-scale plantation of trees to provide shade....
