NCW takes suo motu cognisance of unauthorised filming of woman during surgery
NEW DELHI, May 4 -- The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of a report alleging unauthorised capturing and circulation of a female patient's private images during surgery at a medical college in Kaushambi.
According to media reports, objectionable photographs allegedly showing a 22-year-old female patient's face and private parts during a surgery at a government-run autonomous state medical college in Kaushambi were recently circulated on WhatsApp groups linked to officials and media personnel.

She also directed prompt cyber intervention to remove the content and a thorough probe into security lapses within the institution.
A detailed Action Taken Report has been sought within seven days, the commission added.
The NCW termed the incident a "deeply disturbing" violation of medical ethics, dignity and the fundamental right to privacy, raising serious concerns about safety and accountability within healthcare institutions.
Strongly condemning the act, it said such actions are "reprehensible", constitute criminal offences under relevant laws, and cause "severe psychological trauma" to the victim while eroding public trust in medical systems.
The commission has also sought measures to protect the victim's identity and provide necessary legal and psychological support, and has asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) to take appropriate action under the NMC Act, 2019 and relevant regulations....
