NCR deploys tech-enabled system for monsoon monitoring of road under bridges
PRAYAGRAJ, July 26 -- To ensure safe rail operations and minimise monsoon-related disruptions, North Central Railway (NCR) has rolled out a technology-driven "Monsoon Road Under Bridge (RUB) Monitoring and Waterlogging Management Protocol" across its network.
The protocol is centred on the Bridge Management System (BMS), which enables real-time monitoring, reporting and management of waterlogging at RUBs through a multi-layered digital framework aimed at ensuring public safety and uninterrupted road traffic, officials said.
As part of the initiative led by general Manager Naresh Pal Singh, dedicated assistant divisional engineer (ADEN)-wise monsoon WhatsApp groups have been created in all divisions for real-time coordination. Officials will share hourly section-wise rainfall updates, while geo-tagged photographs of all waterlogged RUBs will be uploaded immediately after rainfall, said NCR chief public relations officer Dr Shivam Sharma....
