Haldwani, Aug. 31 -- A section of hillside collapsed onto the Nainital-Haldwani National Highway near Dogaon early Sunday, blocking the busy route and leaving long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, officials said. Large boulders, rocks and debris tumbled onto the highway following the slope failure. After several hours of clearance work, the highway was reopened to traffic. However, officials continued to remove the remaining debris as loose material was still falling from the hillside, posing a risk to road users and workers at the site.
