Nabin to oversee BJP's 2027 state poll strategy
Dehradun, May 4 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin will hold detailed deliberations on the party's strategy for the 2027 Uttarakhand assembly elections during his upcoming visit to the state, said BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt.
Bhatt said the national president's proposed three-day visit, likely after the results of elections in five states, would include meetings with leaders across organisational and government levels.
"He will hold meetings with the state core group, which will include the chief minister, former chief ministers, MPs and other senior leaders. Discussions will focus on the party's preparedness for the 2027 assembly polls," Bhatt said.
According to him, the state unit will present a detailed assessment of the current political scenario, including constituency-wise preparedness, performance of MLAs, impact of central and state government schemes, and key local issues. "Special strategies will also be prepared for seats where the party could not secure victory earlier. The focus will be on winning all assembly seats in the next elections," he said.
Bhatt added that the national president will also review organisational work by holding meetings with party office-bearers and interacting with senior workers. "He will take meetings at the district and mandal levels to assess the ground situation and provide guidance for strengthening the organisation," he said.
A meeting with state cabinet ministers is also scheduled, during which the implementation and impact of government schemes will be reviewed, and directions will be given to expedite work ahead of the elections, Bhatt said.
On preparations for the visit, he said party workers were enthusiastic and planning a grand welcome from the airport to the party headquarters on Balbeer Road in Dalanwala.
Responding to a question on VIP darshan during the Char Dham Yatra, Bhatt said arrangements are the same for all devotees. "There is no VIP darshan. Everyone is getting equal opportunity for darshan," he said, adding that the opposition should refrain from spreading confusion and avoid tarnishing the image of the state.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Bhatt said the party's internal issues would not impact the political situation in Uttarakhand. "The Congress itself is burdening public sentiments. Its leaders have failed to meet people's expectations," he said.
Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja will begin a five-day tour of the Garhwal region starting May 6, party office bearers said.
This tour is part of a series of visits to assess organisational preparedness and boost workers' morale ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, he said.
Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal said Selja's Garhwal visit will cover Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath and Tehri Garhwal.
He added that this will be followed by her next visit to Tehri, Uttarkashi, and Dehradun's Chakrata and Vikasnagar, while a separate tour of the Kumaon region is also planned.
"We are ready for the polls. Our in-charge recently completed a five-day Terai visit, including Dehradun and Mussoorie. After completing four such tours across regions, there is enthusiasm among party workers. We are fully prepared for the elections," Godiyal said.
He added that the party is focusing on strengthening its organisational structure under Selja's leadership. "We are moving ahead as per our plan. Block presidents have already been announced, and the PCC structure has been sent to the high command and will be declared soon," he said.
"From panchayat to booth level, we will streamline the party organisation," he added.
Selja had earlier visited Uttarakhand in April for a five-day tour, which she termed successful, claiming that people had made up their minds to bring the Congress to power in the state....
