Lucknow, June 5 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) will launch "MyDidi", a women-only electric bike shuttle service, on World Environment Day to promote safe last-mile connectivity and women's employment. The service will be inaugurated by UPMRC managing director Sushil Kumar at Vishvavidyalaya Metro Station on June 5. Based on the theme "By Women, For Women", trained women riders will provide pick-up and drop services to women commuters within a five-km radius of select Metro stations at a fare of Rs.15 per trip. The service will initially operate from Vishvavidyalaya, IT College, Bhoothnath and Krishna Nagar stations, covering key residential, educational and commercial areas. To encourage usage, UPMRC will offer free rides to women commuters from June 5 to June 13. The first 10 women passengers using the service on the launch day will also receive special gifts....
