Motorcyclist crushed to death by dumper on Pratapgarh highway
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 14 -- A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a dumper truck on a highway near Suvanari village under the Hathigwan police station area in Pratapgarh on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Suraj Saroj, a resident of Bhadri Kha village under the Kunda Kotwali police station limits.
According to police, Suraj had gone to Lalgopalganj in Prayagraj district for some work and was returning home on his motorcycle at around 7 pm. When he reached the highway near Suvanari village, a dumper truck allegedly hit his motorcycle.
The impact threw him onto the road, after which the truck ran over him and fled the scene.
Local residents immediately alerted the UP 112 emergency service.
Police personnel reached the spot and arranged an ambulance to take the seriously injured youth to the Community Health Centre (CHC). However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's mother, police have registered a case against the unidentified dumper driver. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
