Motorcyclist, tempo passenger killed in highway crash
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 17 -- A 25-year-old motorcyclist and a 35-year-old woman travelling in a tempo were killed on Saturday following a collision on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway in the trans-Yamuna area.
The deceased were identified as Deepak Kumar Singh, a resident of Nebura Rivai Singh village in Mirzapur district, and Ranju Devi, wife of Vinay Kumar and a resident of Akhri Shahpur under the Meja police station.
Police reported that the accident occurred when a tempo, returning from Vindhyachal after carrying devotees for darshan, lost control near a petrol pump in the Dharawanara area under the Dighiya outpost.
The vehicle veered into the wrong lane and collided with Deepak's motorcycle, causing serious injuries to both him and Ranju.
Dighiya police and Deepak's family took him to the Manda community health centre, where he received first aid before being referred to SRN Hospital, Prayagraj.
Ranju was initially taken to a private hospital before being referred to Prayagraj as well.
However, both victims succumbed to their injuries shortly after reaching the city, before treatment could begin....
