PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 15 -- A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a woman and her two-year-old son within the Industrial Area police station limits in Prayagraj on Monday morning when a speeding truck ran them over while they were on their way to fetch water. The accident occurred at around 6 am near Saraswati Hi-Tech City in the Mahuwari area. The victims were identified as Maya Devi, 30, and her two-year-old son, Khatru. Both died on the spot. According to family members and eyewitnesses, Maya Devi was heading to collect water with her son when a speeding truck struck them. The driver fled the scene immediately. Originally hailing from the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, the family had been living in a shanty settlement near Saraswati Hi-Tech City for the past four years, earning their livelihood through daily wage labor. Police reached the spot, took custody of the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
