Mother, 2 daughters killed as truck drags bike for 3km in Mainpuri
AGRA, Oct. 7 -- A woman and her two minor children were killed, while her husband was critically injured after their motorcycle collided with a truck, became entangled in its rear tyre and was dragged for nearly three kilometres on GT Road under Bewar police station limits in Mainpuri on Tuesday morning.
Additional superintendent of police (City) AK Singh said the family was travelling by motorcycle from Bewar town towards Mainpuri city on Tuesday morning. The truck, carrying footwear from Kolkata to Punjab, hit the motorcycle from behind. The bike became entangled in the truck and caught fire as it was dragged along the road.
"The fire was later doused, but the mother and her two children died in the incident. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination and the truck was seized," Singh said.
Eyewitnesses alleged that instead of stopping, the truck driver continued to drag the motorcycle after hitting it, leaving the three dead in the accident. Mainpuri police have taken the truck driver into custody.
The deceased were identified as Suman, 30, and her two minor daughters, Vedanshi, 4, and Devanshi, 1. Her husband, Bobby, 32, was injured....
