Monthly retainer, daily hearing fee of state law officers hiked
LUCKNOW, June 4 -- The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to increase the retainer and per-hearing fee payable to state law officers after a prolonged period of around 15 years.
State law officers engaged by the state government in various district courts, Allahabad high court, Lucknow bench and the Supreme Court of India, discharge the important responsibility of safeguarding state interests and providing effective legal representation.
The district government counsel's retainer, earlier Rs 9,000, has now been increased to Rs 14,000. The fee per working day has been raised from Rs 1,650 to Rs 2,500.
The additional district government counsel's (ADGC) retainer has been hiked from Rs 7,200 to Rs 11,000. The hearing fee has gone up from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,300.
Assistant district government counsel will now get Rs 10,000 as retainer instead of Rs 6,300, and Rs 2,300 per day instead of Rs 1,500.
Similarly, deputy district government counsel's retainer has been increased from Rs 5,400 to Rs 9,000, and the daily fee from Rs 1,275 to Rs 2,000.
Panel lawyers will now get Rs 2,300 per day instead of Rs 1,500. Special counsels will also receive Rs.2,300 instead of Rs.1,500. Amicus curiae for civil and criminal matters will be paid Rs 2,300 per working day instead of Rs 1,500.
The advocate general's monthly retainer has been increased from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh, and the hearing fee from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000.
The chief standing counsel's retainer has been raised from Rs 22,000 to Rs 35,000, and the hearing fee fixed at Rs 12,000.htc...
