LUCKNOW, July 2 -- The Southwest Monsoon has covered another 10-12 districts on Day Two, including Mirzapur, Lalitpur, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnor, Shamli and Saharanpur, after covering 20 districts on arrival in Uttar Pradesh on Day One. The weatherman said that conditions are favourable for its further advancement in some more areas of UP, including Lucknow and Kanpur, in the next 2 to 3 days. On Wednesday, Varanasi airport recorded maximum rainfall of 48.2 mm, Moradabad 46.4 mm, Muzaffarnagar 21.6 mm, Hardoi 37.4 mm, Sultanpur 17.3 mm, Azamgarh 14.4 mm, Churk 12.2 mm, Fursatganj 10.1 mm, Barabanki 10 mm. The maximum and minimum temperature in Lucknow was 34.8deg C and 28.5deg C. The forecast for the state capital is a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 32 and 25deg C, respectively. The IMD issued a warning that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely at isolated places. The state forecast is for rain/thundershowers very likely at many places over West and East UP. There is a warning of thunderstorm/lightning accompanied with gusty winds (40 to 50 kmph) at isolated places over the state. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over the state. While UP's overall rain deficit reduced to 51% from 59% on Monday, 33 districts still fall under a large deficit category where the rain deficit is pegged between minus 60% to minus 90%. Seven districts received normal rainfall which includes Kasganj, Agra, Hathras, Lalitpur, Mathura, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar while another three districts-Bulandshashr, Etah and Sambhal-experienced more than normal rainfall. There is a high probability of heavy rain on Thursday in 24 districts including Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Sambhal, Budaun, and surrounding areas....
