Monsoon covers entire state, but no major splash yet
Lucknow, July 3 -- The South-West Monsoon covered the entire Uttar Pradesh on Thursday (July 2). Arriving 12 days late (June 30), within four days, the monsoon covered the entire state.
"It progressed rapidly under the favourable circumstances and covered the entire Uttarakhand on July 1 and the entire Uttar Pradesh on July 2," said Mohd Danish, a senior scientist at Lucknow Met office.
The forecast for Lucknow is generally cloudy sky becoming partly cloudy with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 34deg C and 28deg C, respectively. On Thursday, maximum and minimum temperatures in Lucknow were 35.3 and 28deg C, respectively. Lucknow experienced 0.5 mm rainfall till the filing of this report on Thursday.
On Thursday, 30 districts were still under the large deficit category where the rain deficit is pegged between minus 60% to minus 90%. These include Lucknow, Kanpur Dehat, Mau, Prayagraj, Amethi and others.
About 28 districts received less than normal rainfall which includes Ayodhya, Bahraich, Ballia, Balrampur, Basti, Etawah, Rampur and others.
Thirteen districts experienced normal rain including Azamgarh, Gonda, Hardoi, Kasganj, Agra, Hathras, Lalitpur, Mathura, Meerut. Two districts - Bulandshahr and Muzaffarnagar - received above normal rainfall and two other districts - Etah and Sambhal - witnessed large scale excess rainfall.
There is a high probability of heavy rain on Thursday in 24 districts including Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Bijnor and Amroha....
