LUCKNOW, Aug. 14 -- Moderate rainfall in the state capital is likely over the next five days, starting from Friday, the Met office has said. This is due to a well-marked low pressure area over the coastal regions of West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh and the northwest Bay of Bengal, which intensified into a depression on Thursday and is now moving west-northwestwards, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday. Senior Met scientist at Lucknow Observatory, Mohammad Danish said that starting from Friday, a good amount of rainfall is expected across the state. "There is a prediction of heavy rainfall in south-western and north-eastern parts of the states including Sonbhadra, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Muzzafarnagar and Meerut. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Lucknow over the next five days," said Danish, adding that it would bring much needed relief from rising daytime and nighttime temperatures and rainfall deficit. Currently, Muzzafarnagar, Sambhal and Meerut falls in excess rainfall category, while Lucknow falls in below normal rainfall category and districts - Pilibhit, Mau, Kushinagar, Kanpur (Rural), Jaunpur, Deoria and Bhadohi fall under extremely below normal category....
