MEERUT, Sept. 13 -- One of the prime accused in the shooting of scrap dealer Harun, 30, who sustained three bullet injuries in an attack on Fatehullahpur Road on Friday, surrendered at the office of the Meerut senior superintendent of police on Saturday, SSP BBGTS Murthy confirmed. Ravish, who has surrendered, and his father Irshad have been named as the main accused in the shooting. Harun's family had accused Irshad, Ravish and their acquaintance Firoz of opening fire on the scrap dealer. However, Irshad remains absconding and three police teams have been deployed to trace him. Harun's condition remained critical, police said. In his statement submitted to the SSP, Ravish claimed his family members were not responsible for the shooting and alleged that the bullet that hit Harun was fired accidentally during a scuffle. Harun's brother Umar claimed that Irshad owed Harun around Rs.24 lakh and that the dispute over the money led to the shooting. Police said a search of Irshad's house led to the recovery of a bag containing around Rs.30 lakh in cash. The police are verifying the source of the money. According to Ravish, Harun. Sonu and two or three unidentified men reached his house around 2pm on Friday to demand payment from his father, Irshad, due under a committee arrangement. Ravish claimed Irshad told them he would pay the money after a few days. He alleged that Harun, Sonu and the unidentified men then abused and assaulted his father and threatened to kill him if the money was not paid immediately. He alleged that the men then attacked his father with a brick. Ravish alleged Harun then fired at him with an illegal pistol but missed. He claimed that when Harun tried to fire again, a scuffle broke out and the firearm went off, hitting Harun....
