Mechanic shot dead at shop in Bahadrabad, manhunt on
haridwar, Sept. 16 -- A 25-year-old two-wheeler mechanic was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified assailants at a village in Bahadrabad, around 20 km from Haridwar late on Monday, police said.
The victim was identified as Happy Kumar, a resident of Shantarsah village. Police said he was working at his repair shop when two masked men approached him and allegedly opened fire from close range. The attackers fled from the spot after the shooting.
Kumar was rushed to a private hospital in Bahadrabad where doctors declared him brought dead.
"Two masked assailants fired on Happy from close range.... A case of murder has been registered against two unknown accused," superintendent of police (Crime) Nisha Yadav said.
Police have launched a search for the two assailants. Combing operations and checks are being carried out at check posts and border areas to trace the accused, she said....
