Mathura police crackdown on cyber crime continues
Agra, July 8 -- The Mathura police raided 'hotspots' identified with cyber crime in Mathura district, early on Tuesday. These raids were conducted in areas under four different police stations and began at 5 am and continued till late in the day.
According to SSP Mathura, Shlok Kumar, the campaign was launched in view of the rising cases of cyber crimes in the district and in keeping with the instructions issued by the DGP. "Four police teams left in the wee hours of Tuesday and were working in close coordination under SP Rural Suresh Chandra Rawat. Final data of outcome is being assembled and will be shared soon," the SSP said.
"Drones and other technologies are being used and evidence including mobiles are being seized during these raids. Those involved are being taken into custody and will face action," the SSP said.
Earlier, on February 22 this year, similar search operations in two villages of Mathura district's Shergarh area were conducted and 34 people were arrested for their alleged involvement in cyber fraud.
Led by Suresh Chandra Rawat, SP (rural), Mathura, police teams comprising 240 personnel along with 13 police stations in charges besides other officials carried out the operation in February month. The campaign in February was undertaken in Janghawali and Bishambhara villages which were notorious for cyber fraud and traced as hot spots of cyber fraud on Pratibimb, a portal to trace such activity.
In Janghawali village, 11 suspects were arrested while 23 were arrested from Bishambhara village.
In Janghwali, 17 accused fled while 28 fled from Bishambhara village. Last year a similar action was undertaken by Mathura police on December 11, 2025, when 37 suspects were arrested from four villages in the Goverdhan region believed to be a hot spot of cyber frauds....
