Mandi secretary held taking Rs.1 lakh bribe in Bulandshahr
LUCKNOW, June 25 -- In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) on Wednesday arrested a mandi official in Bulandshahr district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh from a trader, officials said.
The accused, identified as Nahar Singh, in-charge secretary of the Krishi Utpadan Mandi Samiti, Khurja Nagar, was caught red-handed by the ACO's Meerut unit during a trap operation at his office in the Naveen Mandi Sthal area of Khurja Nagar on June 24.
According to the ACO, the action was taken on a complaint lodged by Atul Gupta, a resident of Khurja Nagar in Bulandshahr. Gupta alleged that the official demanded a Rs.1 lakh bribe to withdraw a licence suspension notice and allow his firm to operate. Acting on the complaint, a trap team led by inspector Yogendra Kumar caught Nahar Singh while allegedly accepting the bribe....
