Man shot on board train, body thrown on track
VARANASI, May 11 -- A 35-year-old passenger was shot dead allegedly by two assailants in a passenger train on way to Tarighat in Ghazipur from Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction in Chandauli in the wee hours of Sunday.
The assailants threw his body near Ibrahimpur village under Sakaldiha police area, police said and added that after the train slowed down near Tajpur, the assailants fled.
The train left the station in the morning at around 6am and the incident took place at around 7am and came to light at around 7.30am. A police officer said that according to passengers, two young men carrying backpacks had boarded the Passenger train at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction. They allegedly had an argument with the victim. Subsequently, they shot him dead, and threw his body out of the train. As the train slowed down near Tajpur village in the Sakaldiha area of the district, the duo jumped off the train and fled.
According to police, the passengers informed that they first heard arguments and before they could understand anything, they heard the sound of the gunshot and found the man lying on the floor, soaked in blood. The incident left passengers panicked. In the meantime, the assailants threw him out of the train and jumped off and fled the scene.
On information, the police teams from the Sakaldiha police station and Chandauli along with the GRP (Government Railway Police) and RPF (Railway Protection Force), reached the scene. The man's body was recovered along the railway tracks near Ibrahimpur.
The police launched a search operation in the surrounding areas, but despite efforts, no clue regarding the perpetrators could be found. The GRP has taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Police were trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The police are investigating whether the murder was the result of an old rivalry, robbery, or some other motive.
PDDU Nagar circle officer Arun Kumar Singh said, the matter is being investigated. "Efforts are on to establish the identity of the youth."...
