man shot dead by minor over land dispute in US Nagar: Police
Rudrapur, March 31 -- A 60-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his minor nephew following a long-standing land dispute in Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district late on Sunday, police said on Monday.
According to police, the minor allegedly used his father's licenced revolver to shoot his uncle during a violent altercation between the two families.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Udham Singh Nagar, Ajay Ganpati said the dispute had been going on between two brothers for a long time over agricultural land in Bakainiya village under Gadarpur police station limits. "There was a land dispute between two brothers for a long time. On Sunday evening, both families got into a heated exchange which escalated into a brawl. Members of both families attacked each other with sticks. During the altercation, a minor from one of the families brought his father's licensed revolver and fired at his uncle, who died on the spot," said senior superintendent of police, Udham Singh Nagar, Ajay Ganpati on Monday. Police took the minor and his family members into custody for questioning following the incident. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination on Monday.
