PRAYAGRAJ, July 1 -- : A 28-year-old man engaged in the shuttering business was shot dead by unidentified assailants near his village in Pratapgarh's Jethwara police station area late on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Raju Singh, a resident of Chandan Ka Purwa Khatwara village under Jethwara police station limits. According to police and local residents, Raju was returning home on his motorcycle around 10 pm when three men, allegedly waiting near the village with a motorcycle, intercepted him. The attackers opened fire on him from close range, killing him on the spot before fleeing. Jethwara station house officer Narendra Singh reached the scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Locals told police that Raju had a love marriage with a woman from a neighbouring village around seven months ago and that tensions had persisted since then. Investigators are examining whether the marriage could be linked to the murder. Circle officer (Sadar) Karishma Gupta said police received information about the incident and teams have been deployed to identify and arrest the accused. Superintendent of police Deepak Bhukar also inspected the crime scene and interacted with family members and villagers. He said multiple police teams had been formed to trace those involved in the killing. The SP said a formal complaint from the family was yet to be received. However, preliminary investigation suggests that the victim's love marriage may be one of the possible motives behind the murder. Police said all angles are being probed and efforts are underway to arrest the accused....
