Meerut, June 29 -- A 25-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband, who slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon just seven months after their marriage in Bulandshahr district. The accused fled the scene immediately after the crime, while other members of the family allegedly locked the house and escaped before police arrived. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in Hajipur village under the Syana police station limits. Police and forensic experts rushed to the spot after receiving information and launched an investigation. Police informed the victim's family soon after the incident. Police said the exact motive behind the murder has not yet been established. According to police, Monu, a resident of Hajipur village, married Geeta (25), a resident of Ghansurpur village, on November 26, 2025. Preliminary investigation suggests that the couple had a heated argument on Sunday morning over an undisclosed issue. During the altercation, Monu allegedly attacked Geeta with a sharp-edged weapon, slitting her throat and killing her on the spot. Police came to know about the incident after neighbours became suspicious and alerted the authorities. A team from Syana police station, along with forensic experts, immediately reached the crime scene. After conducting the inquest proceedings, police sent the body to the district hospital for post-mortem examination. The victim's elder brother, Ashok Kumar, said he received the shocking news through a phone call made to his cousin. The victim's mother, Premvati, levelled serious allegations against her daughter's in-laws. "My daughter's husband used to consume alcohol and had taken Rs.15,000 from us some time ago," she alleged. Bulandshahr SP City Abhishek Pratap Ajey said Syana police received information through Dial-112 about the crime.
