VARANASI, Sept. 11 -- Bhadohi police on Wednesday arrested another member of an interstate gang allegedly involved in making fake certificates to secure MBBS admissions under the freedom fighter quota. The accused, identified as Nitish Kumar Dubey, is a resident of Baridube village under Jigna police station in Mirzapur. Additional superintendent of police Shubham Agarwal stated that Shahid Ali filed a complaint at the Gyanpur police station on September 20, 2025, alleging that some people were involved in making fake freedom fighter certificates to secure admission to MBBS courses at Government Medical College under the freedom fighter quota. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and began an investigation. During the investigation, Shubham Singh, an alleged member of the interstate gang, was arrested first, followed by gang leader Sanjay Dubey. During the investigation, the name of Nitish Kumar Dubey, a resident of Jigna in Mirzapur's Baridube, surfaced. Police subsequently arrested him from Jigna. With his arrest, police have so far apprehended eight members of the gang. During interrogation, Nitish Kumar Dubey allegedly revealed that the gang fabricated fake certificates for use in MBBS admissions and government job recruitment. The certificates were also allegedly used in the 2023 police recruitment process. Bhadohi police have so far arrested eight gang members in the case and recovered a mobile phone and Rs.700 in cash.
