Man held for raping minor neighbour in Alambagh
Lucknow, July 4 -- Police in Lucknow have arrested a man on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl who lived in his neighbourhood. According to the police, the accused, Anwarul, 29, was apprehended from the Cab Way Cut area near Chhoti Line within the Alambagh police station limits, on Thursday. The arrest followed a tip-off from a police informer.
Police said the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint received at Alambagh police station on Friday. According to the complaint, the incident occurred when the accused who lived close to the victim's home, allegedly forced the minor girl into his house, assaulted her, and raped her.
The complainant further alleged that the accused threatened to kill the girl and her family members if the incident was disclosed to anyone.
Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested the accused the same day. Inspector Brajesh Kumar Tripathi, in-charge of Alambagh police station said the accused is being produced before a court and will be sent to judicial custody.
An FIR has been registered at under Sections 64(1), 351(3) and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to rape, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt respectively, along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Police said further legal proceedings and investigation into the case are underway as per due process....
