Man held for killing younger brother in Chandauli
VARANASI, March 9 -- Police arrested a man for allegedly killing his younger brother while he slept at a farmhouse in Jalalpur village, under the Kandwa police station area of Chandauli district. Police said the incident took place on March 5 and the case was solved on Saturday after the accused confessed to the crime.
According to police, the accused, Vivek Singh, was upset because his younger brother Vishal Singh received more importance in the family. He was also greedy for his brother's money and property. Chandauli superintendent of police Aditya Langhe said Vivek Singh was unhappy with the respect and status Vishal had in the family. He also wanted control over the family property. Police added that the accused is a drug addict and frequently consumes alcohol.
During questioning, the accused told police that he had earlier been jailed in a murder case. After that, he felt that he had lost respect in the family. About four months ago, a family land was sold for Rs.75 lakh and the money was divided between the two brothers. Vishal deposited Rs.25 lakh in a fixed deposit, while Vivek spent all his share. Police said the accused believed that if his younger brother died, he would get control over the Rs.25 lakh deposit and also have more say in family matters.
On March 5, the day after Holi, Vivek allegedly consumed a large amount of alcohol. While Vishal was sleeping in the hallway of the farmhouse, the accused shot him in the head from behind. Vishal died on the spot. After the incident, the accused hid the pistol used in the crime and the CCTV DVR in a pile of straw....
