PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 27 -- A 50-year-old man died after suffering an electric shock while allegedly trying to remove illegal electrical wiring from his house during a vigilance team raid in the Ajuha area of Pratapgarh on Saturday morning. His death led to protests by family members and local residents at Sirathu Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead. The deceased was identified as Indraraj Saroj, a resident of Madhiyamai locality in Nagar Panchayat Ajuha. He worked as a manual labourer. According to family members, a vigilance team had arrived in the locality for a raid on Saturday morning. After learning about the team's presence, Indraraj hurriedly tried to remove the wiring from his house. During the process, he suffered an electric shock. His family initially rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors reportedly said his condition was critical and referred him for further treatment. He was then taken to Sirathu CHC, where doctors declared him dead. Following his death, family members and local residents protested at the CHC and demanded action against the vigilance team.
