Lucknow, Sept. 19 -- A 25-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison and shooting himself in the head with an illegal pistol in a field near his village in the Bijnaur area here on Friday afternoon, police said. It is alleged he took this drastic step due to a dispute with his alleged girlfriend. According to police, the deceased rode his motorcycle about 1.5 km from his village to a large field. He allegedly consumed poison mixed with cold drink before shooting himself in the head. His motorcycle was found parked near the spot. Police also recovered a pistol, empty water and cold-drink bottles, a disposable glass and two opened medicine bottles from the scene. "It is not yet clear whether he was on a video call when he shot himself. Preliminary findings indicate that he consumed poison before killing himself," said Bijnaur station officer Kapil Gautam. He added that the man was reportedly in a dispute with his alleged girlfriend. Police said the man had spoken to his friends on Thursday night and told them he would soon end his life. Police are also probing claims that he was on a video call with the woman when the incident occurred. The body was found with a gunshot wound to the left temple and froth was coming from his mouth.
