KANPUR, July 14 -- A 22-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison, hours after he was reportedly beaten with shoes by neighbours in a village lane, police said on Monday. The deceased, Milan alias Mahendra, a resident of Bahorapur village under Satti police station, recorded a video on his mobile phone before consuming the poison. In the video, which later went viral on social media, he alleged that residents of a neighbouring house had assaulted and publicly humiliated him, demanding strict action against them. Based on a video and a complaint by his father, Shashi Kapoor, police booked Sone Lal, his son Amit and others for abetment to suicide. Satti SHO Kali Charan said the probe is underway.
