Man carrying Rs.80k to buy rickshaw found dead along Agra Expressway
LUCKNOW, July 9 -- A 30-year-old man who had left home with Rs.80,000 to purchase an auto-rickshaw was found dead along the Agra Expressway in Lucknow's Kakori area on Wednesday, police said. The autorickshaw driver last seen with him has been detained for questioning.
The deceased was identified as Dilip Rawat, a resident of Dona village in Kakori.
According to the police statement, Dilip left his house on Tuesday with Rs.80,000 to buy an auto-rickshaw. He was accompanied by Mujib alias Munna, also a resident of Dona village, who allegedly took him to facilitate the purchase. When Dilip failed to return home, his family approached the police.
Acting on the complaint, police launched a search and later recovered Dilip's body near the Agra Expressway in the Bhaliya area.
"Senior police officers and a forensic team inspected the scene and collected evidence," stated the Lucknow police statement. Police said Mujib, the last person known to be with the victim, has been taken into custody and is being questioned to ascertain the sequence of events.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's family, Kakori police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The body has been sent for postmortem examination, and investigators said the exact cause of death and the motive behind the incident would be established based on the postmortem findings and other evidence.
Police said all angles, including robbery and homicide, are being investigated.
A family dispute turned violent in Lucknow's Kaisarbagh area on Wednesday after a man allegedly shot his brother-in-law during an argument at his wife's parental home before fleeing, police said. A 58-year-old cyclist was killed and a police sub-inspector sustained injuries in two separate suspected hit-and-run crashes in the Para area of Lucknow on Wednesday morning, police said. In the first incident, police received information about a road crash near the Khushhalganj overbridge on Kisan Path under the Para police station limits. Police identified the deceased as Bodhi Gautam, 58, a resident of Bada Gaon in Kakori.
In the second incident, sub-inspector Anil Kumar, posted at Manknagar police station, was seriously injured after an unidentified car allegedly hit his motorcycle near Tikonia Tiraha in the Para area....
