Man carrying reward of Rs 25,000 nabbed during encounter
Meerut, June 6 -- A wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs.25,000, accused of shooting the son of a retired Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) sub-inspector outside the Linepar police outpost in Moradabad's Majhola area on Monday, was arrested following a police encounter late Thursday night.
The accused, identified as Manish, sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was admitted to the district hospital. Police said efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused involved in the case.
Reportedly, a case was registered against the accused at Majhola police station on the complaint of Dhaniram, a retired PAC sub-inspector and resident of Kanshiram Nagar Mau in the Civil Lines area. According to the complaint, a dispute had broken out earlier that day between one Aryan Chaudhary, an associate of Dhaniram's son Vivek Kumar alias Sonu, and Zeeshan over a coconut business near the Buddhi Vihar roundabout.
Later in the evening, the parties involved reached the Linepar police outpost to settle the dispute. After the compromise was reached, Vivek, Aryan and several others were returning to their respective homes when they were allegedly intercepted outside the police outpost at around 8:45 p.m.
Police said the group was surrounded by Varun Thakur, Deepak, Ankit, Manish, Santosh and Aman Thakur, all of whom allegedly opened fire. During the attack, Vivek sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was seriously injured. The assailants fled towards Delhi Road immediately after the shooting.

SP City Kumar Ran Vijay Singh said police received information on Thursday night that Manish was hiding in the New Moradabad area. Acting on the tip-off, police teams tried to surround him when the accused allegedly opened fire to escape.
