VARANASI, Oct. 6 -- Police on Monday arrested a 62-year-old man, identified as Vikas Singh, in connection with a codeine-based cough syrup smuggling case in Varanasi. Police said Singh's name surfaced during the investigation into the preparation and procurement of forged documents. He was brought to Rohania police station for questioning. A case was registered after police examined call detail records (CDRs) and gathered other evidence, an officer said. His involvement surfaced during investigation, and charged with the crime, the accused was taken into police custody on October 4.
