Man alleges assault, abductionover court dispute; FIR registered
LUCKNOW, May 22 -- A first information report (FIR) was registered at the Sarojini Nagar police station in Lucknow on Thursday after a 25-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and abducted in an SUV over a dispute related to a court case in Varanasi.
The alleged incident which occurred on Tuesday came to light after purported videos and reports surfaced on social media, prompting police to launch an inquiry.
According to an official statement issued by Lucknow police, preliminary investigation revealed that Girjesh, a resident of Ganganagar Amausi in the Sarojini Nagar area, was allegedly called near TS Mishra Medical College by Amausi resident Sandeep Singh and some others.
Police said Girjesh was allegedly forced into an SUV, where he was questioned about his brother's failure to appear before a court in connection with a case registered in Varanasi. "An argument reportedly broke out between the two sides during the questioning, following which the accused allegedly abused and assaulted the victim," police said in a press note.
According to police, the victim alleged that he was dropped in Unnao district after the incident.
"Based on the complaint filed by the victim, police registered an FIR under sections 115(2), 352, 351(3) and 127(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita," Krishna Nagar assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma said.
The ACP said investigation is underway and further action will be taken on the basis of evidence collected during the probe....
