VARANASI, Sept. 6 -- A man alleged that his wife murdered their nine-month old baby girl in Charanha village under the Kachhwan police station area of Mirzapur on Thursday, police said. A police officer said that Roshan Bind of Rani Chaukia village in Mirzapur district alleged that his wife, Preeti took their daughter to her parents' house in Charanaha village two months ago. He alleged that she beat their daughter badly, causing her death. On Friday, his in-laws reportedly took the body to the ghat to perform the last rites. He learned about the incident and reached the ghat, halted the last rites and informed the police. The officer said a police team reached the spot, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Circle officer, Mirzapur Sadar, Jatashankar Mishra said the child died at her maternal grandparents' home. Family members stated that the injury was caused by a fall, whereas the father alleged murder. The funeral was halted, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination....
