LUCKNOW, Oct. 12 -- A man and a woman allegedly jumped into the Gomti from the Ghaila bridge on Sunday, triggering an extensive search operation by police and rescue teams, officials said. According to the Thakurganj police, officials rushed to the spot and found a large number of local residents gathered there. "Eyewitnesses reported that a man jumped into the river first, followed by a woman. Their identities and physical descriptions could not be immediately ascertained," said SHO Omveer Singh Chauhan. Initial efforts by the police and local boatmen to locate the individuals proved unsuccessful.
