Prayagraj, June 30 -- Police have arrested the main accused in the attack on police personnel during a dispute over the Muharram Tazia procession route in Prayagraj and sent him to jail. Police said Salim had allegedly instigated his family members to pelt bricks and stones at security personnel. With his arrest, the number of accused sent to jail has risen to 13, while efforts are under way to trace others involved. Police said Salim had been demanding the demolition of steps along the procession route. He had raised the same issue during Muharram last year and again this year, insisting that the procession would not proceed unless the steps were removed. ACP (Soraon) Shyamjit Pramila Singh said Salim was arrested and sent to jail. He added that searches are continuing to arrest the remaining accused. According to police, around midnight a group of nearly 50 people began pelting stones at the police. Police alleged that Salim's family members picked up bricks and stones from a nearby under-construction building and attacked the security personnel....
