Lucknow tops in new housing projects
Lucknow, July 31 -- Uttar Pradesh's real estate sector continued its upward trajectory in the first half of 2026, with 143 new housing projects registered between January and June, compared to 134 during the same period last year, according to the UP RERA Half-Yearly Report 2026.
The report said the newly registered projects represent a proposed investment of Rs 31,952 crore and will add 46,049 housing units, reflecting growing developer confidence and expanding real estate activity beyond the National Capital Region (NCR).
Lucknow emerged as the leading district in terms of new project registrations, recording 37 projects during the six-month period. Gautam Buddh Nagar retained the top position in terms of investment value, driven by premium and super-luxury housing projects, while Ghaziabad registered 19 new projects.
The report also highlighted rising activity in Tier-2 cities, with Agra and Mathura recording 10 projects each, Varanasi seven, and Jhansi, Barabanki, Bareilly and Prayagraj three each.
UP RERA chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy said the steady rise in project registrations, housing supply and investments reflects the state's development-oriented policies and the regulatory authority's emphasis on transparency and timely project delivery.
He added that improved infrastructure, faster dispute resolution and investor-friendly policies have strengthened Uttar Pradesh's position as one of India's fastest-growing and most transparent real estate markets....
