Lucknow on alert over Ebola threat, screening intensified
Lucknow, June 4 -- The health department has stepped up precautionary measures and placed the city on high alert to prevent any potential spread of Ebola virus disease amid concerns over outbreaks in parts of Africa.
Chief medical officer Dr NB Singh said a dedicated team has been deployed at the airport to screen international passengers. Anyone showing suspicious symptoms will undergo immediate medical evaluation.
A six-bed isolation ward has been set up at Lokbandhu Raj Narayan Combined Hospital, with instructions to ensure adequate stocks of medicines, PPE kits and other essentials.
Officials said no Ebola case has been reported in Lucknow so far, but surveillance has been intensified. Residents have been urged not to pay heed to rumours and follow official advisories....
